It is always best to research on different photographers and expand on your visual awareness. The shoot below was not intended the day I took this, I was doing a documenting shoot on an open day at a golf club and came across this leaf, only after I realized the water magnified the veins in the leaf.
My blog is about photography and what I'm learning about it. Photography is an art form and helps inspire people in the simplest way.
Arklow Bridge

Zoom burst
If you have a zoom lens with a manual zoom ring you can adjust it as you take the photograph and create interesting effects. This technique, known as zoom burst, is easy to do and can transform you image into something completely different, but in a good way.
This is my example of a zoom burst, in my home town.

Modeling and the photographer
Direction is the main key from the photographer in a photo shoot. The photographer must learn to speak clearly to the model if they want a good result. Also background music will help relax everyone who is on set and help the model to get into character.

Tip of the day
This is a great tip I got from another photographer.
Only show people your good images never the bad, and your standing as a photographer immediately increases. Pro's can shoot a load of rubbish like anyone else, they just don't show it to anybody.

Definition
This is a short and sweet definition I came across about composure and exposure.
Compose: This is the creative or artistic bit where you arrange all of the elements of your picture within the frame or viewfinder to produce what should hopefully be a pleasing composition.
Expose: This is the scientific and mechanical bit where you expose your film to light through the lens of your camera and if you are lucky preserve the image for posterity

What is the rule of thirds?
One of the most popular 'rules' in photography is the rule of thirds. It works like this:
Imaginary lines are drawn dividing the image into thirds both horizontally and vertically. Then place important elements of your composition where these lines intersect. The subject is now off center
Using the Rule of Thirds helps produce nicely balanced easy on the eye pictures.

How We Got The News Before TV
I found this interesting on you tube. It's about how important photographs were back when there was no T.V and it was the only source of news to show the rest of the world what's going on. There are some good images shown of documented events.

How to get the correct exposure
To get the “correct exposure” I use the light meterthat’s built into thecamera or a studio light meter. The studio light meter measures the light strength in the area of the photo that will be taken and it will give a suitable setting. Using the light meter on the camera I must adjust the shutter speed, aperture and/or ISO.

Grain
Film consists of a layer or layers of emulsion containing light sensitive silver halide crystals coated onto a plastic base.
After processing the image is made up of lots of clumps of silver from the developed crystals, dyes in the case of colour film, these are referred to as grain.
Grain size is directly related to film speed. Slow films have a finer grain structure than fast films.

Proposal
I find mind mapping a great way to help me create stories for my images. I am working on my proposal at the moment, this is where I must product 4 - 8 prints from processed in the darkroom, that tell a story. At first I had no idea what I was going to shoot, where, when, how but when I stopped panicing I done a mind map and came up with 2 stories "behind the scenes" or "gofler." I have choosen to shoot behind the scenes, I think it would be interesting to work with the stage lights etc...

How to id camera shake.
If the subject movement appears as blurring in the image it will only affect the part or parts that actually move during exposure while camera shake will affect the whole image to the same degree.

Main rule in Photography
Brake the rules, go against what you know!
Eg: sun on your back when taking a shot - shoot into the sun!
Go crazy, whats wrong can be so right when it comes to photography. Please note the law still applies!

Life Saver
Black and White Photography by John Hedgecoe. This book saved me in the darkroom today when developing my film. Not only is a bible for the darkroom, there are some great black and whites prints for inspiration.
